Medical and surgical treatment
Treatment is explained in order: what it is, who may benefit, alternatives, what happens during treatment, recovery, and expected outcomes.
Medical Treatment
Topical Nasal Therapies
Nasal sprays and nasal irrigation tailored to the condition.
Oral Medications
Oral treatment when indicated, including antibiotics and corticosteroids.
Biologic Therapy for Nasal Polyps
Assessment for biologic treatment in selected patients with severe or recurrent chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
Smell Disorder Management
Treatment directed at the underlying cause, with smell testing and olfactory training when appropriate.
Office-Based Procedures
Some conditions can be evaluated and treated using minimally invasive techniques in the clinic, without formal operating-room surgery.
Nasal Endoscopy
A quick examination using a small camera to look inside the nose and the openings of the sinuses. The camera may be flexible or rigid, depending on what needs to be examined. A numbing and decongestant spray may be used beforehand. It can feel uncomfortable or cause pressure, but it is usually not painful and only takes a few minutes.
Inferior Turbinate Coblation
An office-based procedure to reduce enlarged inferior turbinates and improve nasal breathing in selected patients.
Treatment of Nosebleeds
Office-based treatment may include identification of the bleeding site, topical treatment, cautery, packing, or other measures when appropriate.
Postoperative Sinus Care
Endoscopic follow-up, cleaning, and postoperative management after sinus or skull base surgery when needed.
Surgical Treatment
Surgical treatments offered include, but are not limited to, the following:
Septoplasty & Turbinoplasty
Surgical correction of a deviated nasal septum and reduction of enlarged turbinates, often performed together.
Primary Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Endoscopic surgery for chronic or recurrent sinus disease when appropriate medical treatment has not provided adequate control.
Advanced & Revision Sinus Surgery
Individualized surgery for complex sinus disease or persistent/recurrent disease after previous surgery.
Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery
Minimally invasive endoscopic surgery for selected CSF leaks, tumors, and other skull base conditions.
Surgical Management of Recurrent Nosebleeds
Operative control of persistent or severe nosebleeds when office-based treatment is insufficient.
